The ear incident

Van Gogh, for his part, had looked forward to Gauguin's arrival for such a long time, that this situation led to the well-known ear incident. There have been many, perhaps too many, studies about the incident. Doctors with an interest in art have written medical treatises about the ear, and which part was cut off exactly. In 2016 a sketch has been found which shows that his entire left ear was cut off.
